I followed Siobhan's work on Instagram for a while, and slowly built a personal connection with her over a few years. When I had my second child she immediately became my first choice for our newborn photos. Her photography is one of honest storytelling, freezing simple moments that would be lost otherwise. I adore the way she has with light and how moody, yet loving our family pictures turned out. We flew her out from London to Germany for our session together and she was able to spend the whole weekend with us. An experience I will always cherish, not only from photographer to photographer, but also from human to human. Working with her is easy and laid-back.
If you are looking for posed pictures with smiling faces that lack emotion - you need to stay away from her! Siobhan beautifully captures the real, the raw moments, thus creating an authentic glimpse into our everyday. She is a wonderful, open-minded and crazy talented lady, that Siobhan Watts - and I’m happy to call her a new friend. Eva Maria Smith, Germany
As a family we are massively into buying and having less stuff, and for our son's first birthday we didn't want to buy him toys that he would quickly grow out of or forget about. We opted for a family photoshoot to remember this time in his life, and celebrate a year of him earth side. Coming across Siobhan through a mutual friend was divine timing. We loved her images and her presence on social media and thought she would be the perfect person to work with. We were nervous as neither of us like the limelight, but we were totally right in our choice!
Siobhan put us at ease straightaway, and had a lovely approach with our son. We barely even noticed that she was taking photos as she works so intuitively. Siobhan was totally up for taking images on a walk in our local woods and joined in getting barefoot in the grass. The afternoon was so much fun and the images totally reflect that. We will treasure them forever, thank you Siobhan. Holly Hood, Surbiton.
Siobhan is a storyteller and successfully captured the most intimate moments so beautifully, honestly and truthfully. Choosing to have a newborn session with her during those uncertain, tiring and emotionally charged early days was one of the best decisions my partner and I made. We had never had a photo session and were keen to capture the early days but not so keen on posing and performing. The newborn session was shot in our home during a particularly fraught time and Siobhan was so discreet we often forgot she was there, let alone taking pictures.
During the session everything slowed down and for the first time in the weeks following my birth, there was peace and stillness which offered us the opportunity for reflection on the life we had created. This is perfectly captured in our images from the shoot. Looking back on the session, I see the rawness and remember every emotion I felt in those early days and 6 months on I feel proud at how far we have come as a family. I would not hesitate to recommend Siobhan’s photo session. It was a deeply personal experience that myself and my partner will never forget and one that we can look back on as a family to celebrate the life we’ve made and the journey we have taken. I’d never had a photo session before, and I’m actually really phobic of the camera (honest, I didn’t look at my wedding photographs for over a year!) so I was actually incredibly nervous before our family session.
But Siobhan made me feel so chilled out as she snapped away that we all had a really fun afternoon! It didn’t feel forced, or awkward and somehow Siobhan managed to become kind of invisible while getting some of the most sweet and tender candid shots of us all. We ADORED hanging out with Siobhan, and if I ever needed any type of photography again, she’s number one on my list. In fact, I'm thinking about having another baby so we can do another family session with her! Lucy Sheref, London.
I am quite a sentimental person when it comes to particular times in my life and places that mean a lot to me. After my Son was born, we made the hard decision to move out of London, and so I realised that I wanted to make sure we had some photos taken of us as a family in a significant place where we had spent lots of time together and had lots of lovely memories of. I had never had a photo shoot done before, and I hate being in front of the camera, so wanted to make sure we had photos that didn’t look posed, but that naturally captured us spending time together and enjoying each others company. I had been an admirer of Siobhan’s work through her blog and instagram for a while and so she was an obvious choice for me when deciding who to go for. Before the shoot I wasn’t sure what to expect and was a bit nervous, but on the day it ended up being such a fun morning, it barely felt like a photoshoot at all. Siobhan did give us some direction - but mostly just let us hang out and have fun. Because we had such a good time, I couldn’t wait for the photos to arrive and when they did I wasn’t disappointed. They perfectly captured a particular time in our lives that I never want to forget and I can’t wait to print and hang the photos on the wall in our new house, and show them to Reuben when he grows up, and tell him all about the city he was born in and spent his first year in. Thank you Siobhan for capturing our family so beautiful and for giving us photos that we will treasure forever. If you are looking for a photographer who will make you feel relaxed and at ease and make the whole process so enjoyable then I can’t recommend Siobhan enough. Her love for people and families definitely comes across when you spend time with her. Liz Mosley, London.
